Our providers at Family Medicine, PC are all parents themselves and understand the rapid growth and changes all children go through. Routine physical exams in our office give our providers an oportunity to asses if your child is developing normally and meeting all developmental milestones. Our providers address vision, hearing, height, weight, posture, examine eyes, ears, nose, throat, head and scalp, abdomen, bones, reflexes and strength. We also ensure that immunizations are up to date and make any reccomendations for immunizations that are due and/or upcoming. In addition, during a routine physical exam, parents, and our providers have the time to talk about diet and exercise, the child’s level of stress, and any behavioral concerns parents and kids may have.

In New Mexico, all children are required to have a sports physical prior to participation in any athletic activity.

A sports physical is different from your child’s routine physical exam because our providers will be specifically focusing on areas of concern or anything that might put your child at increased risk of injury by participating in sports. Any health conditions or previous injuries will be discussed so that they can be monitored ore prepared for to reduce injury risk and allow your child to be cleared to participate in the sports they want. At the end of the exam, our medical providers will give you signed documentation that your child has been cleared to participate in sports.
